Why White Mom for Obama?

No, not White MomS for Obama. White Mom for Obama. This site is for everyone whether you're a mom or not, whether you're a woman or not, and whether you are white or not.

In an election where identity is such a part of the conversation, though, you should know who I am. I'm a white mom and when I see polls that say that people like me overwhelmingly support the McCain-Palin ticket, I get scared. Scared for me, scared for my kids, and scared for my country.

This white mom supports Barack Obama and Joe Biden because I believe our country will be safer, our economy will be stronger, and my kids' health and education will be better if they are in charge.

This blog shows you why I feel that way, keeps tabs on what is going on, and will try to help you sort through the craziness of this election.

In an election where the media tells us a lot about whether or not people are "like us," this blog will track what the candidates care about, and act on, because I want a President that looks out for me, for my family, and for my country, more than I want a President that is "like me."

I hope you'll join the conversation, and on election day, I hope you'll help me elect Barack Obama.
